Americas Rankings – September 01 2019

With it now being September 01 2019 it is officially now the month in which RWC 2019 begins. In 20 days time the World Cup in Japan will feature twenty competitors, four of which are from the Americas. The rankings of all will be impacted.

The Americas Rugby Challenge (ARCh) concluded on Saturday. Played in Medellín, Colombia Los Tucanes went undefeated to be crowned champions. In their final match they were 54-15 winners over Paraguay.

The margin of Colombia’s win over Paraguay was a record. It sees Colombia’s gaining slightly to move up to 51.92 points. Paraguay fall to 46.91 which marks a further lowest ranking in Americas Rankings history for Paraguay.

Mexico’s sensational performance against the Cayman Islands sees Las Serpientes gaining 1.165 rankings points. With it Mexico finish their year ranked 8th in the Americas while Paraguay are 9th and the Cayman Islands 11th.

Also competing this weekend were Uruguay, and Brazil. The advertised international between the countries was modified from test match status to being an international between the Uruguay XV and the Brazil XV. As such no rankings points were on the line.

The Americas Rankings will be updated again next weekend. Competing in a sanctioned international test match will be Canada vs the USA. Their match from Vancouver will have rankings points up for grabs.
