One-year extension for Dotti with Gold

Ignacio Dotti has signed a one-year extension with the NOLA Gold that will see him stay at the Major League Rugby side for the 2020 season. The Uruguayan lock’s commitment rules him out of the first year of the proposed South American professional competition, set to begin next year, but leaves his options open in years beyond.

Currently preparing for what will be his first Rugby World Cup, Dotti has been a staple in the Teros side since making his test debut in April 2015, though he narrowly missed out on selection for RWC 2015. Now 25 years old he is considered an automatic selection in the run-on side for his country and carried his form into his first season in MLR.

Dotti played 13 matches for the Gold in 2019, missing only three games due to his international commitments. Though primarily a lock, he showed his versatility by starting the last five games of the season at blindside flanker. He joins Chilean utility forward Nikola Bursic in adding South American flavor to the New Orleans side.
