Americas Rankings – August 25 2019

Following the completion of international competition this weekend the latest Americas Rankings have been calculated. In the August 25 2019 edition of the Americas Rankings it is the two fixtures from the Rugby Americas Challenge (ARCh) which saw points on the line.

Colombia’s 83-6 win over the Cayman Islands corresponds to a maximum points gain. In the exchange of rankings points Colombia take 0.32 points off the ranking of the Cayman Islands. The result of the match alone would have seen the Cayman Islands falling below Mexico had there not been a match involving Las Serpientes this weekend.

Mexico did, of course, have a match. Las Serpientes were up against Paraguay, a team ranked higher than them with vastly more experience and one to have beaten them twelve months ago. Mexico’s 35-27 win over Paraguay sees them gaining 1.13 points.

The updated Americas Rankings see Paraguay falling to 45.87 points and Mexico rising to 46.79. As such Mexico has climbed two spots in the Americas Rankings for an all-time high ranking of 8th in the Americas.  In the Americas Rankings Mexico also have an all-time high now of 44th while Paraguay fall to 50th.

Canada was also playing this weekend as was Uruguay. Both had RWC warm-up fixtures yet with neither being a capped test match no rankings points were involved.
