Mike Te’o re-signs with San Diego Legion

After a string of forward announcements, the San Diego Legion have confirmed the re-signing of one of their star backfielders. Mike Te’o has committed to more time at Torero Stadium. Details of the new contract have not been released but Te’o now joins fellow Eagles Dylan Audsley and previously-secured Ryan Matyas for the 2020 Major League Rugby season and beyond.

Having missed out on virtually the entire 2018 campaign, Te’o played a significant role for the club in 2019. He played 13 games, playing both right wing and fullback, and led the team with nine tries scored, good enough for 4th in the league. He earned a recall to the Eagles during the Americas Rugby Championship after a year away.

Injuries have plagued Te’o in recent years, and unfortunately struck again in the last game of the regular season. A high ankle sprain ruled him out of the playoffs and another suffered in training saw him miss out on the Pacific Nations Cup, though he remains in contention for the upcoming World Cup.
