RWC Rewind Uruguay: Arboleya in 2015

During the final weeks of waiting for Rugby World Cup 2019 to arrive Americas Rugby News will be taking a look back at some moments from past RWCs involving competitors from the Americas. First up as the feature Team of the Week is Uruguay.

In day three of the series the feature is Uruguay’s first try scored at RWC 2015. The try was scored by hooker Carlos Arboleya against Fiji in a pool match in the British city of Milton Keynes.

The try came from a brilliant passage of play for Los Teros. It started with scrum half Agustín Ormaechea  darting off the back of a maul and passing to winger Rodrigo Silva who was tackled. Quick ball found flanker Juan Manuel Gaminara for one carry and then Alejo Duran for another.

Solid clean-out work from centers Andrés Vilaseca and Joaquín Prada at the breakdown enabled Ormaechea to find the charging Arboleya who came in on an angled run to get passed the attempted tackles from flanker Dominiko Waqaniburotukula, and fullback Kini Murimurivalu.
