The San Diego Legion have confirmed the re-signing of another key forward. Bruising ball carrier Keni Nasoqeqe has extended his stay with the Major League Rugby finalists, following the footsteps of Oti Pifeleti and Psalm Wooching. The length of the new deal has not been disclosed.
Nasoqeqe was earmarked for the No8 position ahead of the season but injury to Siaosi Mahoni and the addition of Māori All Black select Jordan Manihera saw the former Belmont Shore standout playing mostly in the second row. He appeared in 13 games for the club, missing three weeks while suspended for a red card against Seattle. He was then ruled out of both playoff games after suffering a broken arm in the final regular season game against NOLA.
The 26-year-old is one of at least three Fijians who will line up for the Legion in 2020. Jasa Veremalua has a year remaining on his contract while youngster Tira Patterson is a new arrival. Save Totovosau played for the side in 2019 but his contract status is unclear.
