Canada Women win Gold at Pan Am Games

Canada outperformed their neighbors to win Gold at the Pan American Games. In a one-sided final Canada were 24-5 winners over the USA to thoroughly deserve their victory.

The Canadian women and men were both Gold Medal winners at the 2015 Pan American Games on home soil in Toronto. Four years on the women successfully defended their Gold Medal, doing so in style.

The road to Gold today saw Canada blasting their way through the opposition. Having played very well on both Day One and Day Two Canada had a near perfect tournament as they were unbeaten and conceded just two tries in all of their matches.

The USA’s Silver Medal performance matches that of Toronto 2015. The difference between the two tournaments in women’s rugby came in the battle for the Bronze Medals. Brazil won in Toronto but today they were upset by Las Tucanes. Colombia made history by defeating Brazil to give the country its first medal in rugby at the Pan American Games.
