Pan Am Games – Day Two Results

Three close contests closed out the second day of Rugby Sevens action in Lima with Brazil earning an upset over the USA and Jamaica defeating Uruguay in the men’s draw. Argentina took a narrow win over Canada to end the day that was otherwise as predicted.

Naya Tapper and Ariana Ramsey scored hat tricks against Argentina and Colombia respectively as the Women’s Eagles were dominant in their two Pool A match-ups. Pool B saw Canada finish in top spot with Asia Hogan grabbing three tries against Peru.

The USA fended off Chile thanks to a Travion Clark triple, but Stefan Giantorno’s late try converted by Josh Reeves handed the Men’s Eagles their first loss of the competition. Early tries by Conan Osborne and Mason Caton-Brown and a pair of conversions from Rhodri Adamson were enough for Jamaica to beat Uruguay. Second half tries to Santiago Mare and Luciano Gonzalez Rizzoni propelled Argentina to their win over the Canadians.

Brazil’s win puts them into a Semi Final against Canada, with the USA facing Argentina in the Men’s Draw. The Women’s Semi Finals will see Colombia vs Canada, and the USA vs Brazil.
