Jaguares XV Defeat Eastern Province To Remain Unbeaten

Los Jaguares XV defeated Eastern Province to remain unbeaten in the Currie Cup First Division. The fourth round victory continues Los Jaguares’ perfect record of achieving a bonus point victory in all matches thus far.

Against Eastern Province it took little time for the scoring to being. After three minutes Rodrigo Bruni went over for a try converted by Domingo Miotti. Despite not playing in the Rugby Championship both players are in the frame for selection for RWC 2019.

Eastern Province would hit-back through Oliver Zono. The Elephants’ fly half landed an early penalty to make it a two point margin.

The free-flowing rugby from Los Jaguares XV came in response to Zono’s kick. Gonzalo Bertranou went over for the second try for the Argentine side. Miotti landed the conversion to make it 12-3 after 22 minutes.

Eastern Province winger Athi Mayinje demonstrated his desire for higher honors as he scored the first of two tries for the match. His opening half try would be followed by two further tries to Los Jaguares XV with Miotti, and Facundo Cordero scoring.

In the second half Mayinje would score again but would do so after Los Jaguares XV had gone well clear, leading 40-10. The large lead came following two tries to second-rower Jerónimo Ureta.

Late in the game there was time for replacement second-rower Franco Molina to also score while Los Jaguares XV were also awarded a penalty try.
