Powerful Jaguares XV Named to face Eastern Province Elephants

A powerful Jaguares XV side has been named to face the Eastern Province Elephants. The Currie Cup First Division leaders will play their round four match against the 5th placed Elephants.

Head Coach Ignacio Fernández Lobbe has nine players in his 23 who played Super Rugby this year for Los Jaguares – Gonzalo Bertranou, Rodrigo Bruni, Santiago Carreras, Bautista Delguy, Bautista Ezcurra, Francisco Gorrisen, Juan Cruz Mallía, Domingo Miotti, and Lucio Sordoni.

With the team being a development path for higher honors players who require game time to be considered for RWC spots are joining potential future Super Rugby talent.

Of the side that played in last Saturday’s win over the Border Bulldogs there have been five changes. In the forwards Nicolás Solveyra replaces Javier Díaz at loose head; and Rodrigo Bruni takes over from Santiago Montagner at N8.

The remaining three changes come in the backs. One Jaguar makes way for another at inside center as Bautista Ezcurra will start in his natural position. This sees Juan Cruz Mallía moving to fullback, the position in which he impressed in as understudy to Emiliano Boffelli in Super Rugby.

With Cruz Mallía playing fullback Santiago Carreras moves to the wing in place of Julián Domínguez. A breakout rookie in Super Rugby, Carreras is another in the frame for RWC 2019 selection.

Included among the replacements is Bautista Delguy. The starting Pumas winger from 2018 will make his comeback from injury from the bench. All going well he will join Argentina to be considered to play in the upcoming matches against South Africa.
