Argentina to Face Randwick in RWC Warm-Up Match

Argentina are to face Randwick in a RWC 2019 warm-up match. The fixture is to be Los Pumas’ final match before the World Cup in Japan.

Head Coach Mario Ledesma confirmed the fixture in an interview. It is to be against Sydney club side, Randwick, also known as the Galloping Greens. The club has produced some of Australia’s greatest ever players including David Campese, Mark Ella, George Gregan, Matt Giteau, and Chris Latham.

The match came to be after a fixture against Fiji was sought but unable to be scheduled. It was to also be played in Sydney, a place chosen by Ledesma for Los Pumas to divide their long trip from Argentina to Japan.

The match against Randwick will be part of a ten day RWC preparation in Sydney. Ledesma has said the game will be “two weeks before the RWC” and it is also confirmed that Los Pumas are to arrive in Sydney on August 31.

September 07 is the latest permitted date by World Rugby for a match before the World Cup while Los Pumas are to begin their RWC against France in Tokyo on September 21.
