Faka’osi Pifeleti re-signs with San Diego

The San Diego Legion have announced the re-signing of loosehead prop Faka’osi Pifeleti for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. He is the second extension of the off-season for San Diego following flanker Psalm Wooching, with new arrivals in second row Dominic Day and loose forward Steffon Armitage. The length of the new contract has not been specified.

Pifeleti has been a staple in the San Diego front row since joining mid-way through the inaugural 2018 campaign. He was one of two players who suited up in all 18 games this past season – along with Paddy Ryan – and started 13 games while sharing minutes with Nathan Sylvia.

The elder of the two Pifeleti brothers in San Diego, ‘Oti’ will be looking to follow Kapeli to international honors with the Eagles in the next World Cup cycle. At 22 years old he is three years Kapeli’s elder but one of only seven props across MLR born in 1996 or later.
