Jaguares XV Pulverize Border Bulldogs

Los Jaguares XV pulverized the Border Bulldogs, winning 78-12 in East London earlier today. The bonus s point win sees the Argentine side with maximum points after three rounds and sitting comfortably at the top of the Currie Cup First Division Standings.

Despite winning by such a substantial margin Los Jaguares XV did not score first. Instead the opening score came in the first minute to Onke Dubase. The flanker’s score would be the only time in which the Border Bulldogs were ahead.

Argentina’s home Rugby Championship test match today against New Zealand sees Mario Ledesma fielding the top backline though that which played for Los Jaguares XV today was one that would fit in very well in Super Rugby.

Domingo Miotti had a strong debut for Los Jaguares XV at fly half; Juan Cruz Mallía continued to loom as a player covering inside center for RWC 2019; and Santiago Carreras, and Gonzalo Bertranou loom as likely RWC roster members for fullback, and scrum half respectively.

Nine conversions from Miotti were a hallmark of the performance as was a double from Julián Dominguez, and a hat-trick from Facundo Cordero, two players without Super Rugby experience.

Following the opening minute try to Dubase Los Jaguares XV found their feet. Outside center Juan Pablo Castro crossed for a 5th minute try with hooker Leonel Oviedo then crossing seven minutes later.

Now holding the advantage Los Jaguares XV went about completing the result well before half-time. Tries would come from prop Lucio Sordoni, a second to Castro, and a double to Domínguez.

Leading 49-12 at half time Los Jaguares would hold firm in the second half, leaking no further points. On the flip side they would search for more tries. Both Cordero, and Dominguez would completed their hat-tricks.  Replacements Two Castiglioni, and José Luis González would also score one try each.
