Argentina lose Creevy for Australia match

Argentina are to travel to Australia without their starting hooker. Former captain Agustín Creevy has been ruled out for next weekend’s away match against Australia with a shoulder injury.

Creevy was replaced in the 48th minute by Julián Montoya. Upon been pulled from the field it was evident that he had a shoulder problem, and tests have revealed he suffered a sprain

The year 2019 has been a year in which Montoya has risen from being the understudy to Creevy to being, in the least, his equal. The next-in-line was always a debate but it is now officially Santiago Socino.

The uncapped Socino signed to return to Argentina from England, making his Jaguares debut against the Sunwolves in June. He is to be the 5th hooker to play for Los Pumas during the Mario Ledesma regime. In addition to Creevy, and Montoya the other players are Diego Fortuny, and Facundo Bosch.

Both Fortuny, and Bosch featured against South Africa, as replacements, in 2018. Fortuny made his test debut in Durban with Bosch doing so in Mendoza.

The complete travel roster for the match next weekend against Australia will be announced later this evening. Ledesma has confirmed that there will not be wholesale alterations.
