Delguy Joins Jaguares XV in South Africa

The 2019 test rugby year beings for Argentina on Saturday. The opening fixture will be at home against New Zealand in a round one fixture of the Rugby Championship. Not involved is Bautista Delguy who missed much of the Super Rugby season through injury.

The 22-year-old Delguy is the incumbent Pumas right winger. His injury means that others will be used instead with Mario Ledesma having named Sebastián Cancelliere, Santiago Cordero, Manuel Montero, and Matías Moroni as prospective names in his roster for Saturday’s match.

Of them Cancelliere, and Moroni both received notable game time on the right wing this year for Los Jaguares. Meanwhile Cordero was named in the English Premiership Dream Team while Montero was a surprise inclusion due to him not having played Super Rugby at all in 2019.

Delguy joins Santiago Carreras in the Jaguars XV roster in South Africa. Carreras was a Super Rugby rookie this year who received the opportunity due to injuries to not only Delguy but also Ramiro Moyano, and Joaquín Tuculet.

Both Delguy and Carreras are cases in point of Jaguares XV players who are very much in the frame for RWC 2019 selection. In order to be considered both are being given game-time in the Currie Cup First Division.

Also on the Jaguars XV roster is Gonzalo Bertranou. The starting test scrum-half from 2018 was injured after just one match of Super Rugby this year. In his place Tomás Cubelli would go on to shine, recapturing his previous form from prior years.

Delguy is now with Bertranou, Carreras, and the remainder of the Jaguares XV roster in South Africa. He is to be considered for this coming weekend’s match against the Border Bulldogs. It is to be a round three match and will see Los Jaguares XV looking to remain unbeaten and also stay at the top of the standings.
