Wooching signs on for more in San Diego

Psalm Wooching has signed a contract extension with the San Diego Legion. While details have yet to be officially released, it’s believed to be a three-year deal that will see the 25-year-old Hawaiian flanker staying with the Major League Rugby finalists through the 2022 season.

After spending several months in the rugby wilderness battling with injury and an expunged contract with Italian club Viadana, Wooching moved to San Diego last fall to take up a spot in the Legion’s back row for the 2019 campaign. The American football collegiate standout started 13 of 18 games an impressed with his ferocity in the contact area.

On the immediate horizon is a spot in the US Eagles team for the upcoming Pacific Nations Cup. Should Wooching impress, a ticket to the World Cup in Japan is on offer. To date he has won four test caps including two starts, most recently appearing as a replacement against Samoa in November 2018.
