Additional remaining pool matches saw Paraguay, and Chile finishing second place in the pools. Paraguay saw too strong for Guatemala, winning 31-5; while Chile played their best rugby of the weekend in defeating Uruguay 42-5.

In the Semi Finals Brazil came close to losing to Paraguay. In a nervous performance Os Tupis 7’s were 14-12 winners with a player down. They had lost Felipe Sancery to a first half red card. In winning Brazil made the final and qualified for the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.

The second Semi Final saw Argentina scoring all 35 of the game’s points to account for Chile. This set-up a final against Brazil and send Chile into the Bronze Final against Paraguay.

In the Bronze Final Chile would return to winning ways, easily beating Los Yákares 43-0. The win officially saw Los Cóndores 7’s qualifying for the Olympic Games repechage tournament.

Uruguay’s underwhelming results on both day one and two in Santiago would continue right up until the final match. Los Teros 7’s fell to a 17-5 defeat in the 5th Place Final against Colombia.

Finishing 7th was Peru who defeated Costa Rica 41-7 while 9th spot was claimed by Venezuela with a 22-12 win over Guatemala.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games are to be the second edition of Rugby Sevens at the Olympics. The first were the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
