Jaguares Home Quarter Final To Be Friday Fixture

Los Jaguares’ home Quarter Final is to be a Friday fixture. The Argentina Super Rugby franchise will have home advantage against a yet to be determined opponent on Friday June 21.

The Quarter Final is to be historic, marking the first ever home Super Rugby play-off outside of the founding union members – Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

The path which saw Los Jaguares reaching the play-off’s has seen Gonzalo Quesada’s team winning 8 out of their past 9 fixtures. The most remarkable part of their accomplishment is that of these matches just three were home games.

Having lost against the Stormers, and Chiefs over consecutive matches in March Los Jaguares turned around their season in April. They did so firstly in South Africa where they defeated the Bulls 22-20, and the Sharks 51-17.

Following a bye round Los Jaguares began their final stretch of the regular season – an uncompromising eight matches in as many weekends. The first two were at home with a 20-15 win over the Brumbies, and a 30-25 win over the Stormers.

Next up was a four match tour of Oceania. It began in Dunedin, New Zealand with a 32-27 defeat against the Highlanders. Quesada’s side recovered to record a 28-20 win over the Hurricanes and then claimed a 23-15 win over Waratahs in Sydney, and a 34-23 win over the Reds in Brisbane.

The results in Oceania saw Los Jaguares top of the South African conference. Their home 34-7 win this past Saturday over the Sharks then saw Quesada’s side securing a home Quarter Final. They did so with one round remaining which is to be a Friday fixture against the Sunwolves.

Los Jaguares’ home Quarter Final will be on Friday June 21 at Vélez Sarsfield. It is to be the day before the final of the World Rugby U20 Championship in Rosario.
