Nations Cup hosts Uruguay opened their campaign with an impressive victory over Russia. In doing so Los Teros are well placed as they aim to defend their title.
The South Americans started with a bang, crossing for a try in the opening minute. It would be their first of seven for the evening while Russia would cross for four. The quality of tries scored was high as both teams looked to build towards RWC 2019.
In winning the match Uruguay improved on its ranking to edge closer to the USA. More importantly, the match was an entertaining fixture with attractive rugby on offer. It underlined why such games are of great interest to the sport.
