Americas Rankings – June 05 2019

The opening of the Nations Cup on Tuesday has seen changes to the Americas Rankings. The annual World Rugby competition this year sees Uruguay playing host to Namibia, Russia, and the Argentina XV.

The first fixture saw the Argentina XV continuing their winning ways in 2019. They were up against Namibia, a team who will compete at RWC 2019 against Canada. After a competitive opening half the Argentina XV pulled away to complete a 39-25 victory. No rankings points were on the line due to the Argentina XV being the next of XV rather than Los Pumas.

Game two was a fully capped test match between Uruguay, and Russia. Los Teros’ 48-26 win means the South Americans pick-up the maximum points in the exchange. The updated rankings see Uruguay improving from 69.09 to a new ranking high of 69.33 points.

The Americas Rankings will be updated again following round two of the Nations Cup. The second round fixtures see the Argentina XV facing Russia, and Uruguay having home advantage against Namibia. The latter of these fixtures will count towards rankings points.
