Anselmi To Referee in Japan

Argentin’a Federico Anselmi will referee in Japan on Saturday. He will do so for the Super Rugby fixture between the Sunwolves, and the Brumbies at the Prince Chichibu Stadium in Tokyo.

Anselmi is the leading official from the Americas. No referee from the Americas will take charge of a match at RWC 2019. Instead Anselmi is the only person appointed from the Americas and will be an assistant referee at the tournament.

For the Sunwolves vs Brumbies fixture Anslemi will be the referee and is to be assisted by Nick Briant, and Shuhei Kubo, neither of whom will referee at the RWC either.

Kubo joins Anselmi as an assistant for the RWC with the two men being the only officials selected from the Americas, and Asia respectively.

The last time an official from a country other than Australia, England, France, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, or Wales refereed a RWC match was in 2003.
