Americas Rankings – May 26 2019

The May 26 2019 edition of the Americas Rankings takes into account the final round of the Sudamérica 6 Naciones A, the South American Championship. Played on Saturday were three matches yet only one counts towards rankings.

In Belo Horizonte last year’s champions, Brazil played host to the Argentina XV. The visitors dominated, completing a 62-0 win to win the South American title. No rankings points were on the line due to the team not being Los Pumas but, rather, the national next of XV.

Finishing second was the Uruguay XV. Like the Argentina XV, the Uruguay XV won all three of their matches in the competition. Their final fixture was at home against Colombia in Montevideo. The 38-24 win did not count towards rankings.

In Asunción Paraguay played host to Chile. This match did have rankings points on the line and Chile was the benefactor. Los Cóndores’ 53-10 victory was their first of the year and sees them making a notable points gain in the rankings.

Paraguay entered with 48.04 points while Chile did so with 54.04. The updated Americas Rankings see Chile rising to 55.09 and Paraguay falling to 46.99 points. This means that Paraguay is now ranked far closer to the Cayman Islands in 9th place than to Colombia in 7th place in the rankings.
