Carmen Farmer to play for Barbarians against England

Carmen Farmer’s impressive performance for the Barbarians against the USA last month has earned her a second bite at the cherry. The former Women’s Eagles second row has been named in the squad to play in the historic double-header at Twickenham that will see both the men’s and women’s Barbarians lining up against England on June 2.

In doing so Farmer becomes the first USA player to represent the Women’s Barbarians twice, and the second from the Americas after Canada’s Amanda Thornborough achieved that mark at Glendale. Along with repeat stars Rochelle Clark and Fiao’o Fa’aumausili, Farmer will take the field with France captain Gaëlle Mignot and England centurion Tamara Taylor.

In Barbarians tradition there are two uncapped players named in the squad, though both have played international sevens rugby. New Zealand’s Kayla Ahki (née McAlister) and Sweden’s Tova Derk are included in the backline that also adds England World Cup star Danielle Waterman.
