With Four Argentines Calvisano Crowned Italian Champions

This past weekend saw Calvisano crowned Italian Top 12 champions. The northern Italian club defeated Rovigo 33-10, doing so with four Argentines in their line-up.

Playing for Calvisano in the final were second-rower Agustín Cavalieri; center Facundo Panceyra Garrido; prop Franco Brarda; and fly half Serafín Bordoli. Of them Cavalieri and Panceyra Garrido were in the starting line-up.

None of the four players have played test rugby for Argentina. Brarda is captured by Argentina after having played for the Argentina XV while Cavalieri was called-up by former Italian Head Coach Nick Mallet and would play for Emerging Italy in the Nations Cup.

Neither Bordoli, or Panceyra Garrido are captured. The former is eligible for Italy through family player eligibility and previously played in the Pro 14 for Zebre. Panceyra Garrido joined Calvisano from the French D2.
