Major League Rugby confirms playoff format, Final on CBS

Major League Rugby has confirmed the format for the upcoming Championship Series. While the structure and date of the final match has been informally public for some time, the venues and kickoff times have been, until now, under wraps.

Initially both scheduled for Saturday, June 8, the two Semi Finals will now be split with the first on the Saturday and the second on Sunday, June 9. Both matches will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network with 5pm Eastern kickoff times set.

The MLR Shield winner will be decided in the Championship Final to be played as expected on Sunday, June 16, at 4pm Eastern. In a first for the new league, the match will be broadcast on CBS.

Last year’s playoffs were played at fixed locations, the Semi Finals at Glendale’s Infinity Park and the final at Torero Stadium in San Diego. This year’s playoffs will take place at the home venue of the highest seed. San Diego and New Orleans are currently the top two teams and in pole position to host Semi Finals.
