Injection of Bustos Moyano Sees Bayonne Shock Oyonnax To Reach Pro D2 Final

The second half injection of Martín Bustos Moyano sees Bayonne shock Oyonnax to reach this year’s Pro D2 Final. Bayonne came back from a 27-9 half-time deficit to complete a 38-34 victory in their away Pro D2 Semi Final today.

The former Puma entered the match in the 59th minute to score 12 points. They came in the form of a try, two conversions, and a penalty.

The result sees Oyonnax missing out on a place in the Pro D2 Final. This marks an upset as Oyonnax were, alongside Brive, the form team of the regular season. For Bayonne it means the Basque club are to meet the winner of Brive vs Vannes in the Pro D2 Final on May 27.

Brive host Vannes tomorrow in the second Semi Final. Argentine players Axel Muller, and Javier Lagioiosa are both to feature. The former will start on the wing for Brive with the later featuring as a replacement lock.

In addition to Bustos Moyano, the first Semi Final featured Manuel Leindekar. The Uruguayan started in the second-row for Oyonnax. With his club season now over he will be able to rest ahead of Uruguay’s warm-up’s for RWC 2019.
