Chance Wenglewski signs for ATL, on loan at RUNY

Rugby ATL officially has one player on their books. Atlanta’s Major League Rugby expansion side will feature US Eagles prop Chance Wenglewski on their roster when they begin play in the 2020 season. In the meantime he will spend the rest of the 2019 season on loan to Rugby United New York.

It has been a rapid rise to notoriety for Wenglewski. The 21-year-old already has 3 caps to his name after a memorable debut against Ireland in Dublin this past November. He earned his first test start against Brazil in the Americas Rugby Championship. He has been a Collegiate All-American with Lindenwood since 2016, the same year he made his USA Select XV debut at the age of 19.

Having played both sides of the front row, Wenglewski looks to have settled at loosehead prop. He joins another loan signing – hooker Sean McNulty – in the New York front row stocks. With Paddy Ryan under an injury cloud, James Rochford should move to the tighthead side with Wenglewski and Anthony Parry covering loosehead.
