South Americans in MLR – Week 15 Preview

Week 15 of Major League Rugby (MLR) will be a busy one for South American players. Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay are all to have players taking to the fields.

Opening week 15 will be the second placed NOLA Gold at home against the winless Austin Elite. The Gold have gone for Uruguayan second-rower Ignacio Dotti to play out of position at flanker. He will have countrymen in the opposition with Juan Echeverría starting at tight head, Andrés Vilaseca at inside center, and Rodrigo Silva at fly half. Two additional South Americans will start with Chilean Marcelo Torrealba named at scrum-half, and Argentine JP Aguirre at outside center.

In Saturday’s second match the Rocky Mountain rivals Glendale Raptors and Utah Warriors will go head-to-head. The visitors take into the match with them Brazilian fly half Josh Reeves who will wear the 10 shirt. Fellow Tupi Arthur Bergo will be a replacement flanker.

On Sunday the Toronto Arrows will be looking for a home win over the competition leading San Diego Legion. They go into the match with Uruguayan Gastón Mieres named to start on the right wing. His international teammate Leandro Leivas will not feature.

In the final fixture of week 15 Rugby United New York will have a strong opportunity at a home win as they host the Houston SaberCats. The second from bottom SaberCats go into the match with Uruguayan Mateo Sanguinetti starting at loose head prop, and Diego Magno in the second-row.

Not playing this weekend are the Seattle Seawolves. The Washington state side have a bye to give themselves rest ahead of a visit to New York next weekend to face RUNY.
