NOLA signs Eagles front rower Alex Maughan

The NOLA Gold have joined the trend of late signings by adding Eagles cap Alex Maughan to their Major League Rugby roster for the rest of the season. Capable of playing across the front row, the 24-year-old is set to fill a gap at tighthead prop in the absence of injured incumbent Ben Tarr.

Maughan made his full international debut as a replacement against Uruguay in the 2017 Americas Rugby Championship. He is a three-time Collegiate All-American, earning 1st team honors as a hooker in 2018 though he was more often used as a prop for Life University.

He will find his former Running Eagles front row mate Matt Harmon in New Orleans, with Harmon set to resume his role as backup hooker to captain Eric Howard. NOLA are coming off a bye weekend and will host Austin Elite at Gold Stadium on Saturday.
