Argentina XV beat Pumitas in High-Scoring Contest

Argentina’s next-of-XV, the Argentina XV were big winners today as they beat Los Pumitas in a high-scoring match in Córdoba. Played at Palermo Bajo the Argentina XV came out on top 59-31.

The win came after an evenly fought opening half. The Argentina XV were leading 21-19 at the interval, doing so after tries by Manuel Montero, Gregorio del Prete, and José Luis González. Los Pumitas also crossed for three tries with winger Mateo Carreras scoring twice, in addition to a try coming from center Juan Pablo Castro.

In the second half the Argentina XV ran riot. They would cross for six tries while conceding two. A feature was a double for Santiago Carreras who started on Saturday for Los Jaguares in the win over the Brumbies.

The Argentina XV will next play in the Nations Cup in Uruguay. The competition will be staged exclusively in Montevideo in June. Also taking place in June will be the World Rugby Junior World Championship which Argentina will host in Rosario, and Santa Fé.
