Hourcade: “High Performance Is Operational in Colombia”

Daniel Hourcade, the High Performance Manager for Sudamérica Rugby, recently visited Colombia for the Rugby  Super Week. Impressed by what he saw the former Head Coach of Argentina noted that high performance is operational in Colombia.

The regional governing body of rugby in South and Central America, Sudamérica Rugby posted an interview with Hourcade in which he described the situation.

“It was an incredible week, and very intense, in which more than 400 players and 50 coaches participated. Everywhere we went there was activity.”

“We were able to live the Colombian reality for a week. Both the quality of players and the human resources is impressive. The form in which they work is incredible, the enthusiasm is amazing.”

“We saw that our diagnosis had been precise in that the raw material is being detected. They have many players who are in very good physical condition. Obviously, the level still needs to improve. We are also content with the work structure and the volunteer program.”

“They have a predisposition and a desire that makes one think more than that they will have consistent, fast, and sustained development. We saw a country with a lot of progress and where we work to build solid bases in the shorted possible time. They are very well on track.”

“We (also) worked a bit with the Colombian test team. They are preparing for the Sudamérica 6 Naciones A – they begin against the Argentina XV on May 11 – so we helped their players a little given that in the High Performance we genuinely work with the coaches and Human Resources that helps improve the players.”

“Sudamérica Rugby performed a thorough evaluation and has decided that the conditions are right, and as such therefore we can happily affirm that the region has a new country with operational High Performance.”
