Top 14 – Week 23 Preview

In week 23 of the Top 14 a sprinkling of Pumas will take to the field in France. With there being a total of 26 rounds of the regular season it is time for players to give it there all to press for the opportunity to play in RWC 2019.

At the foot of the Pyrenees the uncapped Ignacio Calles will feature for Pau on Saturday. He has been named as the team’s replacement loose head prop for their home match against Racing 92.

In Tarn Castres will play host to Toulouse in the classic derby. Named to start the match at fly half is Benjamín Urdapilleta. With a rookie now being the starting 10 at Jaguares it is expected that the veteran left-footer will play in Japan 2019.

Also in France’s south-west Agen play host to Lyon. Starting out of position at flanker for the hosts will be Facundo Bosch. He was officially Argentina’s third choice hooker in 2018. Named on the bench for Lyon is Argentine tight head Francisco Gómez Kodela.

Week 23 will conclude on Sunday with two league matches. Toulon and Stade Français are to have home advantage against Bordeaux, and Clermont respectively. All four clubs are home to Argentine players. Of them it is expected that Mariano Galarza, Ramiro Herrera, Facundo Isa, Nicolás Sánchez will be involved.
