Campbell scores as London Irish return to Premiership

London Irish have secured their spot in the English Premiership for the 2019-20 season with one round to spare. The 46-7 win over Richmond on Friday assures that they will finish at the top of the Championship table as they now sit 8 points clear of Ealing, who they they will face in the season finale next Saturday.

US Eagles midfielder Bryce Campbell got his name on the score sheet with a try late in the first half. It was his third in what has been a season of mixed emotions for the 24-year-old. After playing 10 games in the first half this was his first appearance with the senior side in 2019.

Signed on a one-year contract, Campbell’s place in the squad next season is under question. The Exiles have a number of midfield options and have already signed Australian international Curtis Rona from the Waratahs. Campbell is also certain to be part of the USA’s World Cup squad which means he will miss the first two months of the Premiership season should he be retained.
