Anselmi To Take Charge of Sharks vs Reds

While there will be no match for Los Jaguares this weekend there will be a game for one Argentine man. Leading Americas referee Federico Anselmi is to take charge of this weekend’s Super Rugby match between the Sharks and Reds in Durban, South Africa.

The match is to be the third SR fixture of the season for Anselmi. His prior outings as referee were that of the Highlanders vs Reds, and Chiefs vs Sunwolves, both of which were played in New Zealand.

Anselmi is to be the referee and will be assisted by Glen Jackson (New Zealand), and Jaco Peyper (South Africa). The TMO is to be Marius Jonker (South Africa). All three of those joining Anselmi are assured of places on the panel for RWC 2019 in Japan.

The Americas has not had an official involved in refereeing a RWC match since 2003. The chances of this changes for RWC 2019 are low with Anselmi likely to go as an official to act as an assistant rather than referee matches.
