Goznalo Quesada’s Jaguares made history on Saturday, defeating the Sharks comprehensively in Durban, South Africa. The win was the first time that the Argentine franchise has claimed an away win over the Sharks and also the first time the team has gone undefeated on a tour to South Africa.
The result sees Los Jaguares moving up the standings to now be 2nd in the South African conference, and 6th overall. The win was very much a team performance though there were notable contributions including a dominant display from Tomás Cubelli, and his halves combination with Domingo Miotti.
Of the try scorers there was a double for flanker Pablo Matera, and a hat-trick from Matías Orlando. It was the 1st professional career hat-trick for Orlando and the 4th from a Jaguares’ player. Prior instances include Leonardo Senatore (vs Kings 2016), Ramiro Moyano (vs Cheetahs 2017), and Moyano again (vs Sharks 2018).
