Pumitas overcome Georgia

In a tough battle Los Pumitas overcame Georgia 32-26 today in South Africa. The match was the second of three fixtures in their tour to South Africa. The opening game saw a comprehensive victory during the week over the Namibia XV.

Scoring tries for the José Pellicena coached side were winger Mateo Carreras, and scrum-half Gonzalo García. Both men went over for two tries each. Fly half Nicolás Roger also got into the scoring as he converted two tries and also landed two penalties. Replacement Joaquín de la Vega also converted one.

Georgia gave Los Pumitas a major scare, forcing the South Americans to dig deep to overcome a deficit en route to victory. A late try from García saw the Argentine u20’s sealing a late win.

The tour will conclude on Wednesday against South Africa u20’s. They also played today, claiming a 50-8 victory over the Namibia XV.
