Dominican Republic Ready For Turks & Caicos Islands

The Rugby Americas North (RAN) Cup continues this weekend. Competing at Grace Bay will be the Dominican Republic who have traveled abroad to face the Turks & Caicos Islands.

The fixture is to be the opening match in the 2019 RAN North Cup and follows the competition of the South Cup which was won by Martinique.

The match will also be the first test match for both teams in 2019. Their prior fixtures were part of prior RAN tournaments. The Dominican Republic finished 2nd in the 2018 RAN Cup, falling to Guadeloupe in the final game.

Earlier in the 2018 RAN Cup the Dominican Republic were impressive winners over Curaçao. The 2019 RAN Cup has seen a North-South division with Curaçao playing against Barbados, and Martinique in the South; while the Dominican Republic join the Turks & Caicos Islands and the British Virgin Islands in the North Cup.

The 2019 match-up between the Dominican Republic and the Turks & Caicos Islands will be the first in most two years. Their previous match-up took place in May 2017 in Grace Bay. On that occasion the Turks & Caicos Islands were 24-15 winners.
