Argentine speedster Santiago Cordero’s outstanding form has not gone unnoticed. He was today named by Premier Rugby as the English Premiership Player of the Month. The award acknowledges his performances over the month of March for the Exeter Chiefs.
In the month of March Cordero beat 22 defenders, a number greater than that of all other players in the English Premiership. The RWC 2011 Puma also had four try assists, a number also superior to that of all other players in the English Premiership.
Cordero was also a try scorer himself, running in two tries for the Exeter Chiefs in the Premiership in March. His impressive 2018-2019 season has seen him defeating a total of 96 defenders, a number unmatched by all other players over the past ten seasons of the English Premiership.
Aged 25, Cordero is targeting a second RWC tournament. He held down the starting right wing position in RWC 2015 but politics have seen him uncapped since he left Los Jaguares for the English Premiership. With Bautista Delguy out for the season, and Ramiro Moyano also presently sidelined his performances will not be going unnoticed by Mario Ledesma.
