South American Players in MLR – Week 11 Preview

Week 11 of Major League Rugby (MLR) sees a full weekend of four league matches. Not playing due to a bye are Rugby United New York. From South America….

Opening week 11 is one Friday fixture. In the Rocky Mountains the Utah Warriors are at home against the Seattle Seawolves. Involved for the hosts will be Brazilian test fly half Josh Reeves as well as flanker Arthur Bergo. The former will start the match with the latter featuring from the bench. The Argentine born USA international Ben Cima will play opposite Reeves.

On Saturday in neighboring state Colorado, the Glendale Raptors play host to the Houston SaberCats. The Raptors have named Argentine Maximo de Achaval at fullback. He will be up against three starting players from Uruguay. They include loose head prop Mateo Sanguinetti, second-rower Diego Magno, and N8 Alejandro Nieto.

On Sunday the Toronto Arrows play host to NOLA Gold in the first MLR match in Canada. The hosts go into the game with Uruguayan Gastón Mieres starting at fullback. NOLA have named Chilean second-rower Nikola Bursic in their starting line-uo but at flanker. On the bench will be Uruguayan enforcer Ignacio Dotti covering the second-row.

Also on Sunday will be the San Diego Legion against the Austin Elite. Line-ups for the California vs Texas fixture are to be announced on Saturday afternoon.
