Pro D2 – Week 27 Preview

Week 27 of the Pro D2 begins today. In the latest round of the French second division there is plenty to play for. Teams are playing for the right to earn promotion to the Top 14 and to also avoid relegation to the Fédérale 1. From the Americas there are to be a range of players involved. The following preview documents their involvement.

The involvement of Americas’ players in Week 27 will begin on Friday. 15th placed Colomiers host 16th, and last, placed Massy. The visitors have had their fate determined with them officially relegated last weekend to the Fédérale 1. Colomiers need a win to get out of the relegation zone and are looking for more good form from Martín Chiappessoni who starts at flanker, and Sebastián Poet at fly half.

In central France 13th placed Aurillac host 2nd placed Brive. A win for Brive is highly possible, and could see the club moving into first position ahead of Oyonnax. Involved against Aurillac as a replacement will be 2016 Argentine Olympian Axel Muller.

A team to successfully have made the leap from the Fédérale 1 to the Pro D2 is Vannes. On Friday the club will have the opportunity to press further for a place in the play-off’s when the 5th placed side plays away to the 11th placed Montauban. Javier Lagioiosa will start for Vannes at lock.

A vital match in the relegation picture sees the 12th placed Carcassonne hosting the 14th placed Bourg en Bresse. Argentine players Damian Panizzo, and Victor Damian Arias are to be involved for either side with the former on the bench and the latter starting for Bourg en Bresse.

Leaders Oyonnax host 4th placed Nevers in the final Friday fixture. Involved in the match are to be RWC certainties from Uruguay, and Canada. Manuel Leindekar will start the match in the second-row for the hosts while Conor Trainor will be a replacement for Nevers.

Mont de Marsan play host to Charente in the final fixture of week 27. With the match taking place on Sunday line-up’s for the match will not be released until Saturday afternoon. Both clubs are home to players from the Americas.
