Old Glory confirms Spring schedule and venue

Old Glory DC will play five exhibition matches in their Spring campaign, four to be played at home and one away. The Major League Rugby expansion side will begin its 2020 regular season preparations on Sunday, May 19 against All-Ireland League Division 1 side Shannon RFC.

The recently-announced partnership with Scottish Rugby has already paid dividends with a match against the Scotland under-20 side on Memorial Day. It will act as a warm-up for the Scottish side as they prepare for the 2019 World Rugby u20 Championship in Argentina beginning on June 4.

On Saturday, June 1, Old Glory will host the USA South Panthers with their final home match on Sunday, June 9, against the Ontario Blues, defending champions of the Canadian Rugby Championship regional competition and a feeder program for the Toronto Arrows.

The home games will all be played at Catholic University’s Cardinal Stadium. It features a FieldTurf surface with a capacity of 3,500. General ticket sales are scheduled to begin on April 8.

An away game against the New England Free Jacks, Boston’s MLR expansion team, will take place on Saturday, June 15, at Union Point Sports Complex in Weymouth, Massachusetts.

Three players have been confirmed by Old Glory thus far – Junior All-American prop Will Vakalahi, Capital Selects 8-man Josh Brown, and USA rugby league international Ryan Burroughs.
