10 points from AJ MacGinty helped see the Sale Sharks qualify for the Challenge Cup Semi Finals. Played on Friday, in Northern England the Sale Sharks were 20-10 winners over MacGinty’s former club, Connacht.
The English Premiership vs Pro 14 fixture saw a strong performance from the USA Eagles play-maker who landed five goals and had an assist try. He helped the Sale Sharks to a 20-3 half-time lead. No points were scored in the second half but with the Irish province’s second half being restricted to seven it mattered not.
The Sale Sharks will play their Semi Final away from home. They are to do so against Top 14 side La Rochelle at the Stade Marcel Deflandre. The other Semi Final will also be in France with Clermont hosting the Harlequins. Both fixtures will be on the weekend of April 19-21.
