Will Hooley has signed a new deal that will see the US Eagles international staying at Bedford Blues for at least one more season. The 25-year-old has been first choice flyhalf at the RFU Championship club since leaving Exeter in 2017. He has now played in 31 games for the Blues, starting 25 and scoring 230 points.
With a spot in the USA’s World Cup squad a certainty, Hooley will miss the preseason and the first two months of the 2019-20 campaign. It’s a situation that can see many internationals left without a contract secured heading into the tournament, with many snapped up afterwards due to tightening budgets.
New Canadian international Justin Blanchet is also at the Blues but has yet to re-sign. Other current Eagles in the Championship include Bryce Campbell at London Irish, Nick Civetta at Doncaster, Dino Waldren at London Scottish, and Ben Landry at Ealing. Former Eagles flanker Andrew Durutalo is also at Ealing.
