Eight week suspension for Josua Vici

The Houston SaberCats will be without Josua Vici for the next six games after their star winger was hit with an eight-week suspension. Major League Rugby confirmed the decision on their website. The suspension is a result of Vici’s red card against the NOLA Gold for an elbow after the whistle on Holden Yungert.

Having already missed out on Thursday’s match against Utah, Vici will also be unavailable for the upcoming games against Glendale (x2), Seattle, Toronto, San Diego, and New York. He will be eligible to return again for the game against NOLA on May 18.

It’s Vici’s second MLR suspension. He received a one-game ban last year for foul play while he also has two yellow cards on his record.

Midfielder Osea Kolinisau was also suspended as a result of the incident but received only a one-game ban, which was served against Utah. He is free to play again immediately.
