Pro D2 – Week 25 Preview

The Pro D2 season continues. In the latest round of France’s second division a range of Americas’ players will take to the field. The following preview details the involvement of those from the Western Hemisphere.

Kicking-off Week 25 will be Nevers vs Brive. Likely Canadian RWC center Conor Trainor will start for the home side while Argentine Olympian Axel Muller will do so for the visitors. The match is a vital fixture with 2nd place hosting 4th.

The Pro D2 will continue on Friday with six matches. The first sees Carcassonne hosting Mont de Marsan. They will do so with Argentine Demian Panizzo among the replacements. Mont de Marsan have named Tero Agustín Ormeachea as the replacement scrum-half while Carlos Muzzio and Italian capped Argentine Leandro Cedaro will join him on the bench. Starting at tight has will be Jerónimo Negrotto.

13th placed Montauban host 8th placed Charente. The play-offs picture is not what either club desired it to be but such is the competitiveness of the league. The Friday match will see Chilean Pablo Huete starting for Charente.

Fellow South American second-rower Manuel Leindekar will start for Oyonnax. The Uruguayan will do so in his club’s home match against Massy. The fixture sees 1st place hosting 16th. So impressive have been Oyaonnax that they have 50 more competition points than massy.

Up in Brittany Vannes will be looking to capitalize on their home advantage against Bourg en Bresse. They go into the match with Javier Lagioiosa starting in the second-row. There is to also be an Argentine player on the opposing team with the tight head prop position to be occupied by Victor Damian Arias.

Two further Argentine forwards will play in the 3rd vs 15th placed battle between Bayonne and Colomiers. Both players will start for Colomiers with Agustín Costa Repetto playing hooker, and Martín Chiappesoni flanker.

Concluding week 25 will be a lone Sunday fixture. It is to be between two former giants of French rugby Béziers, and Biarritz. Line-up’s for the match will be confirmed on Saturday afternoon.
