Benetton Lose Brex For the Season Following Surgery

Heading into the final stages of the Pro 14 season Benetton Treviso have suffered a blow. The Italian side have lost Argentine mid-fielder Juan Ignacio Brex following wrist surgery.

The 26-year old has made 8 appearances in the Pro 14 this season. Of them six have been in the starting line-up for Benetton. His last Pro 14 match was against Ulster on January 25.

The loss of Brex is a blow for Benetton who are having their best season ever in the Pro 14. After 17 round of the regular season the club are in second position of Conference B. With 10 wins, a draw and six losses the Italians are well placed to reach the play-off’s.

This coming weekend sees Benetton Treviso playing away to Connacht in Ireland on Friday. The difficult assignment can be overcome however as evidenced by earlier wins this season against teams including the Cardiff Blues, Scarlets, Edinburgh, and Glasgow Warriors.

Brex will follow the team’s remaining season matches from the sidelines. He joins fellow former Argentina XV Pro 14 player Eduardo Bello being being ruled out for the season. Zebre replaced Bello with Marco Ciccioli as a medical joker last week.
