Old Glory sign Junior All-American Will Vakalahi

Old Glory DC have announced their second signing ahead of their upcoming exhibition series. Davenport prop Will Vakalahi follows Josh Brown in putting pen to paper with the future Major League Rugby expansion side. At just 19 years old, Vakalahi is at the opposite end of the career spectrum from the veteran Brown.

A product of Penn High School in Mishawaka, Indiana, Vakalahi earned national u17 honors as a loose forward before making the switch to the front row. Junior All-American selection followed this past December and Vakalahi is expected to be part of the USA squad that will attempt to qualify for the World Rugby u20 Trophy tournament taking place in Brazil this July.

“Will has the form and function of a world-class tighthead prop and his biggest strengths are his mobility and work ethic,” said Old Glory owner Paul Sheehy in a media release. “We are thrilled to have him a part of our squad as we look toward our exhibition schedule this year and our first full campaign in Major League Rugby in 2020.”
