Martín Landajo To Leave Argentina for Harlequins

Martín Landajo is to Argentina for the Harlequins. In his first foreign professional contract the Jaguares and Pumas scrum-half will continue his career in England following RWC 2019.

The signing was confirmed this morning by the Harlequins. The official announcement from the club can be seen by clicking here.

A possible move to London,. England has been on the cards for a while now. With Landajo having been overtaken by Gonzalo Bertranou in 2018 his long-term place in the test side was brought into question for the first time.

In the current Super Rugby season he is being used as back-up to Tomás Cubelli who has taken over as the starting no 9 due to the season-edngin injury to Bertranou.

At Harlequins Landajo will join Danny Care, England’s most capped scrum-half. Both men have 84 caps for their countries with Landajo also being Argentina’s most capped no 9 in history.

Aged 32, Care is two years older than Landajo. The arrival of the Buenos Aires scrum-half will ease the work-load on Care for the 2019-20 English and European club season.
