Vilaseca Handed One Week Suspension

Andrés Vilaseca has been handed a one week suspension by World Rugby. The Uruguayan inside center was red carded for a high tackle against Brazil on Saturday. The incident was cited and determined to have been meriting a red card for foul play and an additional week out of playing rugby.

The incident occurred in the 68th minute which saw Uruguay finishing the match with 14-men. It was the second occasion in the ARC that this had happened to Los Teros. In the first round Uruguay lost Santiago Arata to a red card with him also sent off for a dangerous tackle.

The suspension sees Vilaseca set to miss out on playing Major League Rugby (MLR) this weekend for the Austin Elite. The Texans are to play at home against the Seattle Seawolves on Saturday. Line-ups for the match are yet to be confirmed.
