Austin Elite sign Argentine center JP Aguirre

Austin Elite have added another new player to their roster. Juan Pablo Aguirre makes the move to Major League Rugby following time spent at Lindenwood University. He is the sixth South American player to join the side, and the first from Argentina.

Aguirre, 24, was born and raised in Buenos Aires, representing his country at the 2013 World Junior Championships before emigrating with his family to New Jersey. As Argentina’s u20 side was never considered binding, Aguirre is also eligible to play for the USA based on residency.

‘JP’, as he is known in America, was a two-time All-American Honorable Mention and in October was the only Argentine to play for the Americas Selects against the Glendale Raptors. His preferred position is inside center and he is also a capable goal kicker.

More Elite signings are expected to be confirmed in the coming days.
